2CW - 4/2/10 - 5th Annual LOTE- Night 1 -Watertown, NY
Night One – Live from Watertown, NY! Isys Ephex defeated Colin Delaney. The opening match for the fifth Living on the Edge was a qualifying match for the first ever Grand Prix that will take place for one night in Binghamton, NY. Isys Ephex went one on one with Colin Delaney. These two men had a very good opening contest, that showcased just a small portion of what will be seen in Binghamton next month. The tournament, and all the details are up on the website right now. After Isys used his new finisher, a version of a double-underhook piledriver, he was able to score the pinfall and earn the first of eight spots for the Grand Prix.
JD Love and Pete D Order defeated the Killer Steves. Love & Order faced off with the Killer Steves with the winning team picking the stipulation in the rematch the following night in Syracuse. The crowd really was behind the Steves in this one. Most of the 2CW faithful was hoping for a Steves victory...so they could get TABLES 4! However, it was not to be, as Love & Order pulled out the victory with a double standing splash followed by a senton splash for the victory. No announcement was made about Saturday's stipulation in Syracuse.
Loca Vida defeated Antonio Thomas. “The Promise” looked to have the match well in hand during the later stages, much like the Binghamton show in February, but his focus was not on a win. Antonio wanted to unmask the 2CW luchador instead of earning the victory. Thomas was able to remove one mask, also like the match from Binghamton. Then he was able to remove a second mask. Someone should have told “The Promise” that Loca Vida doesn't leave home without 537,417 masks on his head. Or at least it is what it seams, as Loca still was not completely unmasked, using that frustration to get a quick win over Thomas in the rematch. One wonders if this issue is really over?
Three Way Dance for the 2CW Championship. Champion, Jason Axe retained over Brodie Lee and ZS3. This was the main event before intermission. This is an elimination style three way dance, meaning the winner would have to defeat both men in one night. First Jason made ZS3 pass out to the triangle choke, the second time in an as many matches, after ZS3 was posing to the crowd and Axe took advantage. “Main Event” and Brodie went back and forth after this point, exchanging their big moves, and getting close counts on each other. The end came for Brodie after suffering a second Fishermans Buster, this time on a steel chair.
Portia Perez defeated Barbie. Barbie was having her first official match in 2CW, even though her unlikely debut came at the hands of Jimmy Olsen at the last show. She had a good showing against the veteran, and even had a chance at victory. Jimmy Olsen wouldn't let that happen though, as he snuck in after the referee took a shot, and laid out Barbie with a vicious piledriver. Portia took the cheap win, and built momentum for her rematch with Sara Del Rey the next night.
Number One Contenders Match J Freddie defeated Slyck Wagner Brown. Hometown hero, J Freddie took on another 2CW fan favorite in Slyck Wagner Brown. SWB has the experience edge in this match, but Freddie is the hometown kid, and has had a good run in the main event picture of the last few shows. This was a great technical match that could only be explained by watching the match. Freddie took the win with a quick inside cradle. After the match, SWB was gonna beat Freddie with a chair but was stopped by Brodie Lee. SWB challenged Brodie to a 2/3 falls match at night two of Living on the Edge.
2CW Tag Team Title Match American Wolves defeat Up in Smoke. Well, if you weren't in Watertown to see this match, I don't believe any words I can use here will do it justice. This match sent the crowd into a frenzy that they are still feeling today. Many in the crowd were expecting a spectacular match, but they had seen so many teams try Up in Smoke and be unsuccessful, that they didn't think the American Wolves could pull out a win, but they were wrong. This match saw EVERYTHING and more, with Cloudy finally tapping out to Edwards with the half crab. The crowd reaction for the title change was just ridiculous, and you should head over to the store at 2CW.com and buy this DVD immediately! You will NOT be disappointed.
Main Event: Jerry Lawler defeated Jimmy Olsen. Jimmy and Jerry had some words before the match, mainly over weather Olsen would be a better color commentator than Lawler for WWE's Monday Night Raw. Im pretty sure the crowd didn't like that idea, although it would certainly be interesting...Olsen would eat Cole alive...but back to the match, the beginning saw Jimmy Olsen get a few nice moves over on “The King.” Jimmy took advantage for the first few minutes, but it wasn't too long before the long time Memphis legend took control of the match and finally earned a victory with his famous Piledriver. It was a nice way to end night one of Living on the Edge V!
